  • 6:35AM - Maureen is sleeping soundly.

  • 7:14AM - No change. Maureen has not moved once.

  • 7:19AM - Maureen began to move her arms and legs in a rather pronounced fashion for 15 seconds or so. I went in to check on her. Eyes remain closed. She was still sleeping.

  • 7:50AM - Maureen woke up briefly. Djon went into the bedroom to sit with her. He offered Maureen water via a mouth swab but did not accept it. She fell back asleep at 7:55AM.

  • 8:15AM - No change. Maureen remains asleep. Djon is sitting next to her.

  • Maureen began her day @ 8:40AM. She is alert and engaged—rather chatty, some would say loquacious. Nasal congestion is almost nonexistent. The diaper was medium wet. Djon checked the navel. It is completely healed. There is no redness/pinkness. Click/tap here to view a detailed overview of the process Djon and I use to get Maureen ready for the day.

  • Djon examined the pressure ulcer. It looks great. He said it was almost completely healed at this point. See the attached image.

  • Breakfast service began @ 9:10AM. Posture in the geri chair is excellent. We used the two green wedge pillows and the red couch pillow to set Maureen up perfectly. Click/tap here for detailed overview of the entire breakfast service process Djon and I use each day.

  • 9:11AM - Djon administered a dose of Flonase into each of Maureen's nostrils.

  • Daily MiraLAX dosage: None

  • We did give Maureen 6 ounces of prune juice.

  • The Daily Puree Report- This morning Djon pureed the oatmeal for four seconds and smashed the banana into a fine puree with a fork. for lunch, Djon pureed the Chesapeake Bay shrimp salad, zucchini and mushroom barley soup. For the fruit snack, Djon pureed the cantaloupe.

  • 9:46AM - Morning oral care routine

  • 9:54AM - Daily facial treatment including arms and hands

  • 10:00AM - We tilted the geri chair back one level for Maureen's comfort and to reduce the pressure on her sacrum.

  • General observations @ 10:02AM> The day got off to a fantastic start. Maureen had good energy throughout the breakfast service. Her eyes wide open. She was alert, attentive and engaged. Chewing and swallowing went very well. Maureen only coughed once during breakfast. As of the writing of this update, her energy level is beginning to ebb just a bit. It is nice to be more or less back on a regular schedule.

  • 10:50AM - The three amigos headed out for a walk

  • 11:28AM - Return from our neighborhood stroll. Djon and I immediately took Maureen into the bedroom to prepare for Rest Break #1. Diaper is dry. We placed Maureen on her right side.

  • 11:38PM - Rest Break #1 begins.

  • 12:48PM - Rest Break #1 concludes. Diaper was medium wet. Djon and I cleaned and changed Maureen. We then transported Maureen to the kitchen for lunch.

  • 1:02PM - Lunch | Chef Djon pureed servings of the following: Chesapeake Bay shrimp salad, 1/3 of a bowl of mushroom barley and zucchini. He also gave Maureen a serving of chile sweet potatoes. Maureen will drink one 12-ounce bottle of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water.

  • General observations @ 1:35PM> The day continues to progress exceedingly well. Maureen handled lunch without any challenges whatsoever. Chewing and swallowing were excellent. She coughed only three times during the lunch service. Energy remains good. Her eyes were wide open. She was interacting with Djon and me pretty consistently.

  • 1:46PM - Afternoon oral care

  • 2:15PM - We transported Maureen to the bedroom in advance of Rest Break #2. The diaper was medium wet. Djon and I cleaned and changed Maureen. While going through the the process, Djon noted Maureen had a small amount of vaginal discharge. We wrapped things up by placing Maureen on her left side.

  • 2:27PM - Rest Break #2 begins.

  • 3:28PM - Rest Break #2 ends. Diaper is dry. Djon and I got Maureen dressed, We then transported her to the front room for the remainder of the day.

  • 3:40PM - Afternoon fruit snack—watermelon and pureed cantaloupe.
