This post provides a detailed overview of the morning wake-up routine. I am creating it to avoid retyping essentially the same content every day in the daily daytime update.

Standard storting time is 8:00AM. This time fluctuates from day to day depending on a wide variety of factors.

Phase One: Clean and change process

Maya and I start by thoroughly cleaning Maureen and putting on a fresh diaper. We use all three 3M Cavilon products: 1> No Rinse Cleansing Spray used with a white washcloth stored on the bottom shelf in the bedroom to clean Maureen's entire midsection, 2> Barrier Cream - A small amount is applied only to areas regularly exposed to urine and feces. The key areas of application are the left and right upper inner thigh. 3> Barrier Film applied to the sacrum (lower back) area where early-stage pressure ulcers have developed in the past. Once the film is applied, we allow it to dry for 30 seconds.

Phase Two: Washing all upper body areas of focus

Maya and I wash/clean the following areas of focus on Maureen's upper body every day:

  • Entire waistline (front) just below the navel.

  • Area under the left and right breasts

  • Left and right elbow areas

  • Left and right armpits

Maya uses the following process to clean all of these areas:

  1. Apply Aloe Vesta Cleansing Foam to a warmed Medline bathing cloth (purple packet) and wipe/clean each area.

  2. Wipe the area dry with one of the soft colored washcloths stored in the bottom shelf of the cabinet above the island in the kitchen.

As of early April 2022, we are still applying Tolcylen to Maureen's left big toenail. Once the current tube of Tolcylen is used up, we will stop using this product altogether.
