6:35AM - Maureen is awake. I gave her several sips of water using a pink mouth swab. We will continue to do so periodically as long as she is fully awake.
7:10AM - I checked in on Maureen. She remains awake. I gave her a few more sips of water using a pink mouth swab.
Maureen began her day @ 8:07AM. She is attentive and communicative. Congestion is minimal. The diaper is heavy wet. Click/tap here to view a detailed overview of the process Djon and I use to get Maureen ready for the day.
8:33AM - Djon gave Maureen a dose of Flonase in each nostril.
Breakfast service began @ 8:34AM. Posture in the geri chair is excellent. We used the two green wedge pillows and the red couch pillow to set Maureen up perfectly. Click/tap here for detailed overview of the entire breakfast service process Djon and I use each day.
Daily MiraLAX dosage: None today.
Due to the lack of bowel activity, we will administer 2 Senna pills two hours after the last of Maureen's standard morning medications are administered.
We also gave Maureen an additional two ounces of prune juice due to the lack of bowel activity.
9:25AM - Djon administered the morning medications. We will give Maureen the two Senna pills at 11:15AM—immediately prior to her rest break.
9:28AM - Morning oral care routine
9:37AM - We tilted the geri chair back one level for Maureen's general comfort and to relieve pressure on her sacrum(lower back).
General observations @ 9:38AM> The morning went well for the most part. Maureen's overall energy was slightly less than normal. She nodded off on a few brief occasions during breakfast. Despite the slight lack of energy, Maureen was engaged and communicative. Chewing and swallowing were not a problem—only two coughs.
9:40AM - Eyelash cleaning and eye drops
9:42AM - Facial treatment including arms and hands.
10:25AM - Organic fruit smoothie. Mmm mmm good.
General observations @ 11:00AM> Maureen had a rather difficult time consuming the smoothie. She coughed nine times—two of them were red face. This is at or near a record high for coughs while enjoying a smoothie. Djon was able to capture some phlegm on two occasions. Maureen's energy gradually diminished as Djon fed her the smoothie. She nodded off a bit just prior to heading to the bedroom for Rest Break #1.
11:11AM - Djon administered two Senna tablets with applesauce followed by some cold water.
11:15AM - We headed to the bedroom to prepare for Rest Break #1. Diaper was heavy wet. Maureen had a very small formed bowel movement. After completing a clean & change, Djon and I placed Maureen on her right side.
11:31AM - Rest Break #1 begins. Due to all of the scheduled appointments this afternoon, this will be the only rest break Maureen gets today. It will last at least 75 minutes.
12:45PM - Rest Break #1 concludes. Diaper was heavy wet. Djon and I cleaned and changed Maureen. We proceeded to transport Maureen to the kitchen for lunch.
1:01PM - Lunch | Djon prepared Maureen 1/2 a turkey, Swiss cheese and mayo sandwich on toasted sourdough bread, 1/2 a bowl of homemade chicken and pea soup and a medley of grilled portobello mushroom, squash and zucchini. Maureen will consume one 12-ounce bottle of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water during the lunch service.
General observations @ 1:40PM> Lunch was a tough slog. Maureen had a significant amount of difficulty chewing and swallowing. She coughed 10 times—6 of which were red face. Maureen was fairly lethargic throughout lunch. The sandwich caused the most difficulty. This all follows on the larger than average amount of coughing we experienced during the smoothie.
1:50PM - Afternoon oral care
