Sunday, September 7 Daytime update

  • 8:00 am- Maureen is sleeping, comfortably laying on her left side.

  • 8:30 am- Maureen is opening her eyes. She looks calm, no signs of distress. She took some water sips via swab.

  • 8:45 am- We placed Maureen on her back and administered 75 mcg of Levothyroxine with applesauce.

  • 8:50 am- We started the day with changing Maureen’s dry diaper. Tom and I cleaned and applied Cavilon barrier film on sacrum and Cavilon cream on inner tights. There was no signs of v. discharge. We washed Maureen’s upper body, dressed her and headed to the front room.

  • 9:10 am- Nebulizer treatment with saline solution.

  • 9:20 am- Maureen had 8 oz of lemon water.

  • 9:30 am- Breakfast- omelette, half of banana, 1 oz of coffee. Maureen sneezed a lot and coughed four times. Suction machine was used.

  • 10:10 am- Morning oral care.

  • 10:15 am- Facial and hand care routine.

  • 10:45 am- Maureen finished 10 oz of water with electrolytes.

  • 10:50 am- Maureen is closing her eyes from time to time.

  • 11:15 am- Deacon Andy arrived in for Sunday service.

  • 11:30 am- We transferred Maureen to the bedroom for her first rest break. Diaper was medium wet. Tom and I cleaned and changed it. Positioned Maureen on her right side at 11:45 am.

  • 12:45 pm- Maureen’s first rest break is over now. Her diaper was dry. We dressed her and headed to the kitchen.

  • 1:00 pm- Lunch- chicken noodle soup, chicken salad, pickled beets and 11 oz of coconut water. Maureen coughed three times, sneezed many times.

  • 1:45 pm- Oral care.

  • 2:00 pm- We went out for a walk.

  • 2:40 pm- We are back at the house. Transferred Maureen to her bed. Diaper was medium wet and she had a large soft bowel movement. Tom and I cleaned her thoroughly and changed. Maureen will lie down on her right side for an hour starting at 2:55 pm.

  • 3:55 pm- Maureen’s second rest break ended. Her diaper was dry. We dressed her and transferred to the recliner.

  • 4:05 pm - Fresh fruit snack- watermelon, apple and banana. Maureen had another episode of coughing and sneezing a lot.

  • 4:30 pm- Maureen had 5 oz of sparkling water.

  • 4:45 pm- Nebulizer treatment with saline solution.

  • 5:00 pm- Dinner- spaghetti with cheese, spinach and tomato, 10 oz of lemon water. Maureen coughed once only.

  • 5:50 pm- Administered 12.5 ml of Vimpat and 5 mg of Olanzapine with applesauce .

  • 6:10 pm- Evening oral care.

  • 6:30 pm- We transferred Maureen to the bedroom for the night. Diaper was heavy wet. Tom and I cleaned and changed her. Applied Cavilon cream. Cleaned /washed her face and applied Cetaphil lotion on her face, hands, legs and feet. Positioned Maureen on her left side.

  • Maureen consumed 45 oz of liquids today. She drank very well from the cup. Had a lot of sneezing, but besides those couple of episodes, she had a pretty good day. Gave us a couple of smiles in the afternoon.
