  • 6:35AM - Maureen is sleeping soundly.

  • 7:25AM - I checked on Maureen and immediately noted the following: 1> Eyes were wide open and only blinking occasionally, 2> Hands were lightly clenched, 3> General unresponsiveness to verbal cues and 4> A slight twitch on the right side of her mouth. She was having what we have come to describe as a slight seizure. The symptoms began to subside at 7:42AM. After weighing all of the factors, we decided not to administer one or more doses of lorazepam.

  • 8:42AM - Maureen remains in bed. She is completely calm. All of the outward signs of a slight seizure have disappeared. Maureen has coughed heavily on 4-5 occasions during the last hour. Each occurrence usually involves the expectoration of a good amount of phlegm. Djon tries to capture as much of the phlegm as possible with the suction machine. We are going to leave Maureen is bed until she is completely alert and engaged.

  • 9:50AM - Maureen remains in bed. Her eyes are open. She is very clam/lethargic. We have offered her swabs of water on 3-4 occasions. Maureen refused to open her mouth every time. Arms and legs are almost completely still. Djon and I have every intention of getting her day started as soon as she becomes more alter and engaged.

  • 11:00AM - Maureen appears to have regained her faculties. Djon and I are going to get her day started. Diaper was medium wet. We performed a clean & change. While doing so, we noted a small amount of redness on the waistline. Djon applied a thing layer of Nystatin Ointment to the red area. Things were going well. Maureen was alert and engaged. Djon and I decided to perform a complete bed bath and shampoo Maureen's hair. Everything went off without a hitch. We then headed to the kitchen for lunch.

  • 11:45AM - Djon worked some styling mousse into Maureen's hair. He then proceeded to make a full organic fruit smoothie. This will be the mail element of Maureen's lunch since she has been coughing so much in the last few days when attempting to chew and swallow solid food.

  • 11:59AM - Djon gave Maureen a does of Flonase in each nostril.

  • 12:02PM - Djon administered 10ml of cough medicine. The dosage is 10ml every four hours.

  • General observations @ 12:28PM> Maureen handled the organic fruit smoothie pretty well. She only coughed a few times. Her posture in the geri chair is good. She is fairly alert and engaged. Maureen makes attempts to communicate. Considering the way the day started, the last few hours have been pretty productive.

  • 12:42PM - Since Maureen handled the organic fruit smoothie well, we decided to give me a 1/8 bowl of homemade lentil soup. Djon pureed the soup in the smoothie machine about five seconds before prior to heating it up in the microwave.

  • 1:02PM - Afternoon oral care

  • General observation @ 1:03PM> Maureen's energy is beginning to fade. Her eyes are starting to close. Posture is deteriorating.

  • 1:08PM - We tilted the geri chair back one level for Maureen's comfort and to relieve pressure off of her sacrum.

  • 1:10PM - Facial treatment in including hands and arms

  • 2:00PM - We headed to the bedroom in advance of what will be the only rest break of the day. The diaper was heavy wet. Maureen also had an extra large loose bowel movement. Djon thoroughly and painstakingly cleaned Maureen's entire midsection. After the clean & change was complete, Djon and I placed Maureen on her right side.

  • 2:22PM - Rest Break #1 begins

  • General observation @ 2:34PM> Maureen coughed heavily for a period of 3-5 minutes not long after we got her set up on her right side. She expectorated a large amount of phlegm—more than I have ever seen. The phlegm continues to be clear.

  • 3:05PM - Rest Break #1 concludes. The diaper was dry. Djon and I dressed Maureen. The three amigos then headed to the front room for some fruit and television frivolity courtesy of Mr. Drew Carey.

  • 3:20PM - Fruit snack | Finely chopped watermelon and pureed cantaloupe and pineapple.
