July 1 daytime update

bjtm65
  • 6:30AM - Maureen is sleeping. She is beginning to stir.

  • 7:15AM - I checked on Maureen. Her eyes were wide open—wider than normal. Fingers were clenched very tightly. Upper body was trembling occasionally. Maureen was not responsive at all. She was not accepting the mouth swab. Breathing was not labored. There were no physical signs of pain. Djon and I checked all of her vitals for the next 25 minutes or so. They were all in the acceptable range. The "episode" gradually began to subside. Maureen just accepted a mouth swab of water for the first time. We will keep a close eye on her.

  • Maureen began her day @ 8:30AM. She is alert and engaged. Congestion is minimal. The diaper is medium wet. Maureen also had a small soft bowel movement. Click/tap here to view a detailed overview of the process Djon and I use to get Maureen ready for the day.

  • 9:02AM - Djon gave Maureen a dose of Flonase in each nostril.

  • Breakfast service began @ 9:02AM. Posture in the geri chair is excellent. We used the two green wedge pillows to support Maureen's left and right sides/arms. Click/tap here for detailed overview of the entire breakfast service process Djon and I use each day.

  • Daily MiraLAX dosage: None

  • Due to Maureen's lack of bowel movement activity, we will give her 2 Senna tablets at approximately 11:30AM.

  • Djon administered the last of the regular morning medications @ 9:43AM. He will give Maureen two Senna pills at 11:43AM.

  • 9:45AM - Morning oral care routine

  • 9:50AM - We tilted the geri chair back one level for Maureen's comfort.

  • 9:50AM - Morning facial including hands and arms

  • General observations @ 10:00AM> Breakfast went much better this morning when compared to the last two days. Overall energy was good to very good. This in turn led to quality engagement, responsiveness and communication. Chewing and swallowing went well—only four coughs and none of them were red faced. All in all. it was great way to start the day.

  • 10:25AM - Organic fruit smoothie

  • 11:01AM - We headed to the bedroom in advance of Rest Break #1. Diaper was medium wet. After Djon and I completed a clean & change, we placed Maureen on her right side.

  • 11:14AM - Rest Break #1 begins.

  • 12:35PM - Rest Break #1 concludes. Diaper is medium wet. After completing a clean & change, Djon and I transported Maureen to the kitchen for lunch.

  • 12:55PM - Lunch | We decided to take a day off from the standard fare. Maureen enjoyed some grilled chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-A, a serving of macaroni and cheese and a few waffle fries. She drank one 12-ounce bottle of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water during the lunch service. We did not give Maureen any dessert today.

  • 1:52PM - We administered two Senna(laxative) pills.

  • General observations @ 1:53PM> Lunch proved to be a challenge. Maureen was very lethargic from the beginning. She also got somewhat heavily congested early on in the lunch service. As the past few months have taught us, when Maureen is tired and/or congested, chewing and swallowing can often be difficult. Djon slowed down the feeding process as soon as we noted the first signs of difficulty. Maureen coughed nine times throughout lunch. A few were the grinding cough variety that caused her face to get red.

  • 2:14PM - We headed to the bedroom to prepare for Rest Break #2. Diaper was medium wet. Djon and I completed a clean & change. We then proceeded to place Maureen on her left side.

  • 2:25PM - Rest Break #2 begins

  • 3:10PM - Rest Break #2 ends. Diaper is light wet. Djon and I cleaned & changed Maureen. We then transported her to the front room for the remainder of the afternoon.

  • 3:25PM - Fruit snack.
