  • 6:30AM - Maureen is awake. Maya will give her sips of water periodically via a mouth swab as long as she remains fully awake.

  • Maureen began her day @ 8:30. She is alert and engaged. Diaper was medium wet. Click/tap here to view a detailed overview of the process Maya and I use to get Maureen ready for the day.

  • Breakfast service began @ 8:52AM. Posture in the geri chair is average. Maureen is tilting more to the left and forward than usual. Specifically, her head is cocked to the right in somewhat of a pronounced fashion. This is due to the fact that she is on her left side when we get her up each morning. We used both green wedge pillows and Magic Mike to straighten her posture. Click/tap here for detailed overview of the entire breakfast service process Maya and I use each day

  • Daily MiraLAX dosage: None

  • General observations @ 9:40AM> Maureen's posture continued to deteriorate. We had to reset the green wedge pillows putting one behind her back. Overall, other than the posture, Maureen's energy is good. Her eyes are wide open. Engagement, communication and responsiveness are less than normal. Another positive is that Maureen has almost no congestion. Coughing was virtually nonexistent throughout breakfast.

  • 10:00AM - Readjusting the pillows did not help. Maureen continued to slump hard to the left. We titled the geri chair back one level in the hope that gravity will provide to be our friend. This action helped a little bit.

  • 10:05AM - Morning oral care

  • 10:10AM - Eyelash cleaning and eye drops.

  • 10:15AM - Morning facial treatment including hands and arms.

  • 11:05AM - We headed to the bedroom for Rest Break #1. Diaper was medium wet. Maya and I completed a clean & change. We placed Maureen on her right side.

  • 11:17AM - Rest Break #1 begins.

  • 12:20PM - Rest Break #1 ends. Diaper is light wet. Maureen had a medium formed bowel movement. We completed a clean & change and then headed to the kitchen for lunch.

  • 12:38PM - Lunch | Maya prepared 1/2 a turkey and melted Swiss cheese sandwich on toasted whole wheat bread, 1/2 a bowl of vegetable soup and a serving of beets. Maureen drank one 12-once bottle of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water during the lunch service. For dessert, she had part of a chocolate covered Oreo cookie.

  • General observations @ 12:59PM> Maureen's energy is less than average. Her eyes are slightly closed. Maureen is leaning to the left and slumping forward. This is despite the fact that she spent one half of the rest break on her right side. Chewing and swallowing is pretty good. As of the writing of this update, we are 3/4 of the way through lunch.

  • 1:29PM - Afternoon oral care

  • 1:45PM - Maya noted the edges/corners of a number of Maureen's fingernails were sharp. She filed and buffed all problem fingernails.

  • 2:04PM - We headed to the bedroom in advance of Rest Break #2. Diaper was medium wet. After completing a clean & change, we placed Maureen on her right side.

  • 2:16PM - Rest Break #2 begins

  • 3:05PM - Rest Break #2 concludes. Diaper was light wet. We completed a clean & change and then headed to the front room.

  • 3:25PM - Afternoon fruit snack

  • Daytime update summary> Today was an average day in terms of overall energy, engagement, responsiveness and communication. Maureen did have a medium formed bowel movement. On a very positive note, Maureen coughed only seven times today—only one red face cough.
