Sunday April 10, 2022 Update

  • 8:00am Maureen is in and out of sleep. She is lying on her left side.

  • 8:31am Our day begins. We saw no redness anywhere on Maureen’s skin. I gently cleaned Maureen’s right big toe to remove excess dried blood from the nail bed and applied a new bandaid. Applied Tolcylen to left big toe. Diaper is heavily wet - we cleaned up, applied no sting barrier film, Cavilon barrier cream, and put on a new diaper. We finished dressing and headed to the kitchen.

  • 8:58am Spoonful of Manuka honey and half thyroid pill with applesauce.

  • 9:15am Breakfast - banana, turkey and cheese omelet, 4 oz prune juice, and a cup of water.

  • 9:53am Oral care.

  • 9:58am Morning facial routine including hands and arms.

  • 10:10am We headed to the front room. Maureen is sitting comfortably in the recliner.

  • Our morning today was fair. From the get go, Maureen had the gurgling sound in her throat and we spent a good portion of our morning trying to cough it out. Maureen eventually was able to cough up a significant amount of secretions twice. Maureen coughed 4 times during breakfast. She drifted in and out of sleep while we were watching tv in the recliner.

  • 11:33am Deacon Andy is here to give Maureen Holy Communion. He also brought palms for Palm Sunday.

  • 11:47am We headed to the bedroom for rest period #1. Maureen’s diaper is medium wet and she had a small, soft bowel movement. We cleaned up and put on a new diaper. Maureen will lie on her right side for one hour starting at 12:02pm.

  • 1:02pm Rest period #1 is over. Maureen’s diaper is light wet - we cleaned up, applied Cavilon barrier cream, and put on a new diaper. We headed to the kitchen after.

  • 1:22pm Lunch - pea and chicken soup, half tuna sandwich, riced cauliflower, and stewed tomatoes with a bottle of organic coconut water. Maureen enjoyed a small serving of blueberry pie for dessert.

  • 1:56pm I sprayed Maureen’s nostrils with the saline spray and cleaned with q tips.

  • 2:07pm Oral care.

  • 2:24pm We headed to the front room. Maureen is sitting comfortably in the recliner.

  • Our afternoon was fair. Maureen coughed 4 times during lunch. The gurgling sound in her throat had returned and i was able to remove the secretions she coughed up. She wasn’t dozing off but she wasn’t talkative or engaged either.

  • 3:30pm We headed to the bedroom for rest period #2. Maureen’s diaper is medium wet - we cleaned up and put on a new diaper. Maureen will lie on her left side for one hour starting at 3:42pm.

  • 4:42pm Rest period #2 is over. Maureen’s diaper is dry. We dressed and headed to the front room.

  • 5:00pm Fruit snack.

  • 6:08pm Dinner - boneless bbq chicken and fries from wingstop with a cup of water.

  • 6:54pm Administered 5mg Olanzapine with yogurt and 7.5mL Vimpat.

  • 6:08pm Oral care.

  • 6:16pm Night time facial routine including arms and hands. We dressed for bed. Vicks applied to chest.

  • 6:30pm Bedtime. Transferred Maureen to bed using the Hoyer lift. Tolcylen applied to left big toe. Diaper is medium wet - cleaned, applied Cavilon barrier cream, and put on a new diaper. Maureen is lying on her left side with two green wedge pillows placed behind her and the white block pillow placed in between her legs.

  • Vitals @ bedtime:

    • Temperature 97.9°

    • Pulse 76

    • O2 96%

  • Maureen had low energy levels for the rest of the day. Talking and engagement was at a minimum. She did not cough throughout dinner. Her oxygenation reading at bedtime went down to 94% and eventually went back up to normal levels. Will continue to monitor.
