Saturday ,May 24 Daytime update

Continued from Tom :


7:00 Maureen is stirring, I brought in some water and she’s accepting a few sips, via the swab.

8:30 still sound asleep

9:00 Maureen is now awake, so we raised the head of the bed and administered the thyroid medicine with a couple spoons of applesauce.

9:15 We gave Maureen a bed bath and changed her, noticing a light brown spot of discharge on her dry diaper. All Cavilon products were used - barrier film and cream.

9:45 After transferring to the front room, I made her breakfast, consisting of cheesy scrambled egg and banana, water with lemon and some apple juice. NO MIRALAX OR PRUNE JUICE.

No coughing, sneezed twice, with breakfast.

LIQUID INTAKE SO FAR …

10 ounces of water and 8 ounces of apple juice.

10:15 Breakfast is done, oral care, clean up are performed, and we are watching Alvin and the Chipmunks … Maureen is very interested!


  • 11:00 am- Maureen is relaxing in the recliner, watching a movie. She is closing her eyes at times.

  • 11:30 am- We transferred Maureen to the bedroom for her first rest break. Diaper was still dry. Maureen will lie down on her right side starting at 11:40 am.

  • 12:40 pm- Maureen’s first rest break ended. Her diaper was medium wet. Marie and I cleaned and changed her. Dressed and transferred Maureen to the front room.

  • 12:55 pm- Lunch- sweet pea soup, tuna salad, beets, 10 oz cup of water mixed with apple juice. Maureen coughed twice, sneezed many times.

  • 1:30 pm - Oral care.

  • 2:00 pm- Maureen finished a 10 oz cup of root beer.

  • 2:10 pm- We did a nebulizer treatment with saline solution to help Maureen with the gargling sound in her throat.

  • 2:30 pm- We transferred Maureen to the bedroom for her second rest break. Diaper was medium wet. Marie and I cleaned and changed her. Positioned Maureen on her left side at 2 :45 pm.

  • 3:45 pm- Maureen’s second rest break is over now. Diaper was heavy wet. Marie and I cleaned and changed her. Dressed and transferred Maureen to the recliner.

  • 4:00 pm- Fresh fruit snack- watermelon, apple and banana. Maureen coughed twice.

  • Maureen had 10 oz of water mixed with apple juice.

  • 4:30 pm- Carolyn came in and brought dinner for everybody.

  • 5:00 pm- Dinner- baked salmon with veggies. Maureen enjoyed it. She coughed many times and sneezed a lot.

  • 5:40 pm- Nebulizer treatment with saline solution.

  • 5:50 pm- Administered 12.5 ml of Vimpat and 5 mg of Olanzapine with applesauce.

  • 6:15 pm- Evening oral care.

  • 6:30 pm- Carolyn and I transferred Maureen to the bedroom. Diaper was heavy wet. We cleaned and changed Maureen. Applied Cavilon cream and Calazinc. Cleaned Maureen’s face and applied Cetaphil lotion to her face, hands, legs and feet. Positioned Maureen on her left side.

  • 7:00 pm- Maureen is asleep.

  • Maureen had 48 oz of liquids today.

9:00am Maureen is awake . As per Tom, she’s been in and out of sleep since about 7 when she first woke and was receptive to sips of water. 9:20am Maureen’s awake, we raised her bed to administer 75mcg
