6:35AM - Maureen was more or less sleeping and quiet.
6:40AM - Maya checked the diaper. It was dry.
8:00AM - Since 6:45AM, Maureen has begun to stir quietly.
Maureen's day officially began @ 8:20AM. She is alert, somewhat chatty and energetic. Her diaper was medium wet. The very small pimple on Maureen's right buttocks remains the same. From and typed by Maya, "We checked her left breast. There was a slight redness. Applied a thin layer of Nystatin Cream." Maya performed the standard clean and change process with 3M No Rinse Cleanse Spray and Barrier Cream. As a last step, Maya applied a fresh layer of 3M No Sting Barrier Film to the pressure ulcer area.
Pressure Ulcer Area Update> Maya and I believe there is marked improvement from yesterday. The area has decreased in size. Color is much more pink. Things are definitely trending in the right direction. See the attached image gallery.
Breakfast service kicked off at 8:43AM. Maya gave Maureen the thyroid medication as a first step. Maureen's posture in the geri chair is very good. Coughing was minimal throughout the breakfast service.
9:03AM - Maya administered the blood pressure medication.
Maureen will consume approximately 4 ounces of prune juice this morning.
Daily MiraLAX dosage: None
9:13AM - Morning oral care routine begins. The upper right gum area is less red/more pink. There is no blood visible.
9:32AM - Maya cleaned Maureen's eyelashes with Johnson's Baby Shampoo and warm water. She then proceeded to put drops in both eyes.
10:22AM - Organic fruit smoothie time.
General observation @ 10:41AM> For the first time in a while, we have witnesses a somewhat prolonged period, 25 minutes, of the low moan/groan. We are not aware of anything that would cause Maureen to do this.
10:50AM - It was time for the first of two scheduled rest breaks. We headed to the bedroom. Maureen's diaper was light wet. Maya performed the standard clean and change process.
11:02AM - Maureen is now positioned on her right side for the next hour.
12:02PM - We initiated the process of getting Maureen out of bed for lunch. He diaper was light wet. Maya performed a routine clean and change. Upon conclusion, we proceeded to the kitchen for lunch.
12:25PM - Lunch | Maya prepared 1/2 a ham and Swiss cheese sandwich on toasted whole wheat, 1/2 a bowl of homemade mushroom soup and a serving of garlic green beans. For dessert, Maureen had a small serving of rice pudding. Maureen will also enjoy 1 12 ounce bottle of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water.
General Observation @ 1:00PM> Maureen coughed more frequently than usual during lunch. A few of the coughs were deep.
1:00PM - Afternoon oral care - upper right gum around implant continues to be somewhat inflamed/red.
1:40PM - In order to vary Maureen's position, we transferred her to the lift recliner in the front room.
General observation @ 2:04PM> The periods of low moaning/groaning persist. They are not as long in duration.
2:54PM - Fruit snack
3:15PM - Maya and I took Maureen to the bedroom in advance of Julie Karr RN's visit. Her diaper was heavy wet. During the clean and change process, Maureen had a very small soft bowel movement and also urinated a small amount in the fresh pull up we had just put on. Maya and I repeated the entire clean and change process and put a new pad on the mattress. We proceeded to place Maureen on her left side.
3:40PM - Maureen is now resting on her left side where she will be for the next hour.
