November 4 daytime update

bjtm65

  • 6:35AM - Maureen is sleeping off and on for the most part.

  • 6:40AM - Maya checked the diaper. It is dry.

  • Maureen's day officially began @ 8:10AM. She is in good spirits. Her diaper was medium wet. Maya did a standard clean and change. using 3M No-Rinse Cleansing Spray and Barrier Film. The process concluded with the application of a new layer of 3M No-Sting Barrier Film to the entire pressure ulcer area.

  • Breakfast service began @ 8:37AM. Maya got things started by administering the thyroid medication. Posture is very good with the assistance of both green wedge pillows. Maureen's arms/hands are positioned in the upper part of her torso

  • Coughing was at a minimum this morning—only two times. This is less than the typical average of three to four.

  • Daily MiraLAX dosage: None

  • Maureen will consume approximately 4 ounces of prune juice this morning.

  • 9:17AM - Morning oral care routine commences. Maya examined the upper right gum area around the implant. The gum looks very good but remains slightly inflamed/red.

  • 9:34AM - Maya cleaned Maureen's eyelashes with Johnson's Baby Shampoo and warm water. She then proceeded to put drops in each of Maureen's eyes.

  • While doing arm exercises with Maureen this morning, Maya discovered the potential cause of the foul odor emanating from Maureen's right arm/elbow area. This is the arm that Maureen keeps clenched to her chest throughout most of each day. There is a fair amount of red/irritated skin on the inner forearm/elbow. Maya cleaned the area with Aloe Vesta Cleansing Foam and applied a very thin layer Nystatin Ointment. See attached image of the right forearm/elbow.

  • 10:30AM - Organic fruit smoothie time. Maureen is enjoying some purple haze.

  • 10:50AM - Maya and I took Maureen to the bedroom to get her set up for the morning rest period to relieve the stress/pressure from her sacrum. Maureen's diaper was light wet. Maya performed a standard clean and change. We positioned Maureen on her left side.

  • 11:04AM - Maureen will rest on her left side for the next hour.

  • 12:05PM - Rest period concludes. Maya and I began the process of getting Maureen out of bed. Her diaper was medium wet. We performed a clean and change.

  • 12:25PM - Lunch | Maya heated up the other 1/2 of Maureen's Portillo's beef and cheddar croissant, a large serving of the chopped salad and 1/4 of a bowl of homemade lentil soup.

  • 1:07PM - Afternoon oral care

  • 1:50PM - Maureen's afternoon rest break will take place an hour later as her JourneyCare nurse is coming to the house for a visit. We decided to move her to the lift recliner in the front room for a change of seating. She is now enjoying today's episode of TPIR.

  • 2:35PM - Fruit snack. It was a bit early today due to her appointment with her JourneyCare nurse.

  • 3:00PM - Prepared Maureen for the trip to the bedroom for the afternoon rest break and to prepare for her visit with her JourneyCare nurse Julie. Her diaper was heavy wet. It breached the seal and seeped through to her pants. Maya performed a thorough clean and change. We then positioned Maureen on her left side. She was in the same position this morning. In order to make the most of her visit with her nurse, this was the best course of action.

  • 3:20PM - Maureen is now on her left side.
