  • 6:35AM - Maureen is now awake - lightly stirring.

  • 6:45AM - Maya checked the stripe on the diaper. It indicates wetness.

  • Maureen's day officially began @ 8:05AM. She is a bit quiet but in good spirits. Her diaper was light wet. Maya performed the standard clean and change process using 3M Cavilon No-Rinse Cleanse Spray and Barrier Cream. As a last step, Maya applied a new layer of 3M Cavilon No-Sting Barrier Film to the pressure ulcer area.

  • Pressure ulcer area update> Maya and I feel the area looks fantastic—almost completely healed. See the attached gallery of images taken a few moments ago.

  • Maya also examined the area underneath the left breast. It has completely healed. Unless and until the fungus re-emerges, we will no longer reference this situation in future blog posts.

  • Breakfast service began @ 8:32AM. Maya kicked things off by administering the thyroid medication. Posture in geri chair is very good. Maureen is alert and engaged. Coughing was typical this morning during the feeding process: 3 times.

  • 8:55AM - Blood pressure medication administered.

  • 9:03AM - Morning oral care routine commences. Maya examined the upper right portion of the gum around the implant. She describes it as "really red and worse than it was on Friday."

  • 9:20AM - Maya cleaned Maureen's eyes with Johnson's Baby Shampoo and warm water. She then concluded by putting drops in Maureen's eyes.

  • 10:20AM - Organic fruit smoothie. All natural. All good. All the time.

  • 10:50AM - Colleen and Maya took Maureen to the bedroom for the first of two one-hour rest breaks to relieve pressure on her sacrum. The diaper is dry—a bit of a surprise. Maya and Colleen portioned Maureen on her left side.

  • 11:00AM - Maureen will rest for the next hour on her left side.

  • 12:05PM - Maya and Colleen began the process of getting Maureen up for lunch. She had a small formed bowel movement. The diaper was light wet. Maya performed the standard clean and change process.

  • 12:20PM - Lunch | 1/2 a tuna salad sandwich on toasted whole wheat, 1/2 bowl of homemade chicken onion soup, a small serving of garlic green beans and a small serving of butternut squash with cranberries. Maureen washed this delicious smorgasbord down with 12 ounces of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water.

  • Maureen coughed 5-6 times during lunch—a number of them were heavy coughs. This is definitely far greater than normal.

  • 1:10PM - Afternoon oral care session commences

  • 1:55PM - Afternoon rest break begins. Maya and Colleen took Maureen to the bedroom. Diaper was light wet. As they were completing the clean and change process,

  • 2:15PM - Maureen is now set on her right side and will remain in this position for the next hour.

  • 3:15PM - Colleen and Maya initiated the process of getting Maureen out of bed for the remainder of the day. Maureen had a very small formed bowel movement. The diaper was medium wet. Upon completion of the clean and change process, we headed to the lift recliner in the front room to watch some television.

  • 3:31PM - Afternoon fruit snack. Amazing grace. How sweet the sound.
