As Maya and I were lifting Maureen out of bed this morning, the Hoyer Lift ran out of power. Thankfully, Maureen was almost fully lifted above the bed. We were able to safely place Maureen in the geri chair.
At the time of this incident, the battery had three bars of power. The lift did not "chirp" or beep to alert us the battery was running low on juice. This likely means the battery is not functioning properly.
As I am sure we all would agree, the Hoyer lift has become an indispensable tool. Without it , we would not be able to get Maureen out of bed in the morning or move her around the house.
I reviewed the attached Users Manual that provides a complete overview of the charging instructions. Please take the time to read and review page 15 when you have a moment.
On a going forward basis until we determine what to do next, please plug the battery into the outlet whenever the lift is in the bedroom and always at the end of each evening.
