Sunday, August 3 Daytime update

  • 8:00 am- Maureen is sleeping, completely laying on her left side. Oxygen is on .

    O2-98

  • 8:30 am- Maureen is still asleep.

  • 9:05 am- Maureen opened her eyes. She was a little jumpy for a 3-4 minutes. Pulse went up to 78 , came back to 60 in a couple of minutes. We gave her some more time.

    O2- 93

  • 9:15 - We raised the bed and administered 75 mcg of Levothyroxine with applesauce.

  • 9:20 am- We started the day. Maureen’s diaper was dry with pptwo large brown spots on it. Tom and I cleaned and changed it. Applied Cavilon barrier film on sacrum area and Cavilon cream on inner tights. Maureen coughed 5 times during the process, productive coughs, suction machine was used. Dressed and headed to the front room.

    O2 was 89-90 during the process.

  • 9:35 am- Nebulizer treatment with Albuterol. Maureen coughed two times during treatment, suction was used.

  • We have O2 on .

  • 9:45 am- Maureen had 10 oz of lemon water. Maureen had 5 productive coughs, we used the suction machine. Sneezed 3 times.

    O2-95

  • Administered 10 mg of Loratadin with applesauce.

  • 10:00 am- Breakfast - omelette, half of banana. Maureen coughed twice during breakfast. She is chewing with more energy, opens her mouth for another bite. Big difference from last Sunday.

    O2- 94.

  • 10:40 am- Administered 7.5 ml of Geri- Russian with applesauce.

  • 10:45 am- Morning oral care.

  • 10:50 am- We performed a facial routine, but after finding out that the cream had petroleum jelly, we wiped it off.

    O2-92

  • Maureen had a wet cough, we used the suction machine . She coughed four times.

  • 11:00 am- Sunday communion service.

  • 11:20 am- Maureen had 8 oz of water with electrolytes packet in.

  • 11:45 am- We transferred Maureen to the bedroom for her first rest break. Diaper was heavy wet with a small brown spot. Tom and I cleaned and changed it. Positioned Maureen on her right side.

    O2-89-90 during the process.

  • 12:00 pm- O2 in on, sat. level is around 94-96.

  • 12:15 pm- Maureen closed her eyes.

    O2 is 96.

  • 12:20 pm- Maureen coughed twice, sneezed twice. We were able to get some phlegm with the suction machine.

  • 12:40 pm- Maureen’s diaper was dry. We dressed and headed to the living room.

  • 12:55 pm- Maureen had 8 oz of coconut water.

    O2-94

  • 1:00 pm- Lunch- chicken noodle soup. Maureen had three dry coughs.

  • 1:45 pm- Oral care.

    O2- 99

  • 1:50 pm- Nebulizer treatment with Albuterol.

  • Used Saline mist spray to clean and moisturize Maureen’s nose.

  • 2:00 pm- We transferred Maureen to the bedroom for her second rest break. Diaper was dry. Positioned her on the right side.

    O2-97

  • 2:20 pm- Maureen had four dry coughs.

    O2-96

    Maureen had her eyes open all the time while laying down.

  • 3:00 pm- Tom and I cleaned and changed a medium wet diaper with a medium formed bowel movement in. Dressed and transferred Maureen to the recliner.

  • 3:15 pm- Sister Roberta arrived for Maureen’s treatment.

  • O2 is on, it’s between 89 to 91.

  • 3:50 pm- Fresh fruit snack- watermelon, apple and banana.

  • 4:25 pm- Administered 7.5 ml of Geri-tussin.

    O2-93

  • Maureen finished 10 oz of water mixed with coconut water.

  • 4:45 pm- Maureen is very alert and relaxed.

    O2-96

  • 4:55 pm- Nebulizer treatment with Albuterol.

    O2 is 96.

  • 5:05 pm- Dinner- Meatballs, gnocchi with Parmesan sauce. Maureen had two wet coughs. She had 2 oz of lemon water.

    O2 was about 93-94 during dinner.

  • 5:50 pm- Administered 12.5 ml of Vimpat, 5 mg of Olanzapine and 500 mg of Tylenol with applesauce. We chose to administer Tylenol because Maureen was moaning , showing signs of discomfort/pain.

  • 6:10 pm- Evening oral care.

  • 6:30 pm- We transferred Maureen to the bedroom for the night. Her diaper was ‘dry with a small brown spot on it. Tom and I changed it. Applied Cavilon cream. Positioned Maureen on her left side.

  • O2 is on.

  • Maureen consumed 38 oz of liquids today. She was very alert, especially in the afternoon. Stayed awake almost the whole day, ate very well, with more energy. Gave us a couple of smiles.


7:40 … O2 is 96 and Maureen is sleeping soundly.
