Maureen's JourneyCare nurse Ann Emberson made her weekly visit to the house yesterday. Ann's main focus was on Maureen's lungs and her coughing. The following bullet points provide an overview of the visit:

  • Ann listened to Maureen's lungs. They are now clear. We no longer have to give Maureen nebulizer treatments of Duoneb. This will most likely reduce the amount of coughing as well—a definite added benefit.

  • We discussed the use of a cough syrup. Ann ordered a new bottle of it for the house. There is no formal schedule for the administration of the cough syrup. Ann said we can use it on an "as needed" basis when Maureen has extended periods of bad coughs.

  • Ann expressed mild concern about the preponderance of loose bowel movements as of late. Five of the last six have been loose. She brought up the idea of Imodium. At this point, we are going to follow our normal protocol. If the loose bowel movements continue, we will begin using Imodium or another product.

  • Ann also expressed a bit of concern about the pressure ulcer on Maureen's sacrum. She urged us to be extra vigilant in caring for this wound.

Pleas contact Tom, Carolyn or me with any questions you may have.
