Maya and I noted Maureen was very congested when she woke up this morning. We decided to give Maureen a nebulizer treatment. Overall, we feel it worked well. By all appearances, Maureen was far less congested. One thing is for certain: Maureen did not cough very much after the nebulizer treatment.

A few questions came to mind as we went through the process on The following topics:

  1. The duration of each treatment

  2. How many times per day can use the nebulizer

Julie Karr, RN of JourneyCare provided some very useful information on both of these topics.

Duration of each treatment

Each session should last about 10 minutes. A treatment ends when all of the liquid medication disappears from the container. It is helpful to shake the container a little at the end to agitate the remaining contents to finish the treatment.

Number of treatments per day

A nebulizer treatment can be administered every four hours.

Very helpful instructional video
