June 4 daytime update

bjtm65
  • 6:35AM - Maureen is sleeping lightly—chatting with herself occasionally. Maya checked her diaper. It was wet.

  • Day officially began at 8:15AM. Maureen was a bit more groggy than normal—not completely responsive. Tom, Maya and Brian talked with Maureen for approximately 10 minutes. Maureen became more alert and engaged.

  • Maya thoroughly cleaned Maureen with warm wipes from the purple packets. There are no red spots visible in any part of Maureen's back side. She did note a fair amount of fecal residue on Maureen's anus. Maya put on a new pull up and a pair of freshly laundered shorts.

  • Breakfast service began at 8:40AM. Maureen is sitting erect in the day chair without assistance of a green wedge pillow.

  • 9:08AM - Morning medications administered—blood pressure and baby aspirin.

  • Maureen consumed 1/2 glass of prune juice during breakfast. She did not hold a single drop of it in her mouth. Interestingly enough, Maya gave Maureen a sip of water after she finished with prune juice. Maureen held it in her mouth for 20-30 seconds.

  • Maya examined the gum area around the left incisor tooth. It is very irritated—dark brown and bluish in color.

  • As has been the case for quite some time, coughing was at a minimum this morning during breakfast—2 to 3 times at most.

  • We did not administer a dose of Flonase today.

  • Maureen has been talkative this morning. She smiles and cracks jokes at times. On a few occasions, Maureen began to sing along with whatever song was playing.

  • 9:40AM - Maureen remains sitting erect without assistance in the day chair. She is performing much better than normal as of late with the arms exercises Maya regularly does with her.

  • 10:17AM - Maureen's energy is beginning to dissipate. Her brow has started to furrow. A slight frown is on her face. She is also drooling occasionally. We remain in the kitchen. This has not happened in quite some time. Usually, by now, Maureen is in the recliner.

  • 10:21AM - Organic smoothie time courtesy of the Bulgarian smoothie wunderkind Maya Tonina.

  • 10:35AM - Maya checked Maureen's pull up. It is dry. We will proceed to the recliner in the front room shortly.

  • 10:45AM - Maya and I took Maureen to the recliner. She is sitting comfortably and watching LMAD. TPIR is next!!!

  • GENERAL OBSERVATION> Today was the best morning routine Maureen has had in many weeks. She sat upright without assistance. Was engaged at a high level with Maya while working with the cups, squeeze ball and stretchy yellow band.

  • 12:40PM - Tom and Maya took Maureen to the bathroom. She sat on the commode. Her pull up was wet. Maureen had a large firm bowel movement in the toilet. Maya thoroughly cleaned her and put on a fresh pull up.

  • 12:50 - Lunch—Maureen had a serving of homemade lentil soup and 1/2 a tuna salad sandwich on toasted whole wheat bread. She also had some brussels sprouts. Desert was a small serving of rice pudding.

  • 2:00PM - Maureen was slumping forward a great deal. More specifically, she was unable to keep her head up. As a result, we decided to take her back to the lift recliner where she would obviously be more comfortable.

  • 3:05PM - Fruit snack

  • 3:45PM - Maya checked Maureen's pull up. It was wet. The urine seeped through to her shorts. We took Maureen to the bedroom to be changed. Maya cleaned Maureen thoroughly and put on a fresh pull up.

  • 4:00PM - Maureen wore her New Balance walking shoes all day today. Her feet did not slip out of the foot pedals once.
