Two critical operating procedures for the Hoyer patient lift

We have moved the Hoyer patients lift to Carolyn's condominium. The location of Maureen's bed requires a bit of a commute to the reclininer. This is not an issue. The Hoyer lift is rated to handle loads of up to 300 pounds. Maureen's weight is significantly less than that. Please make sure as you make your way from the bed to the recliner that one caregiver holds the sling steady so that Mauren doe not sway.


Two key operating procedures

  1. Always keep the legs in the closed position when lifting Maureen from the bed and transporting her to the recliner. Only open the legs when placing Maureen in the recliner. See the top of page 11 in the Users Manual.

  2. Never use the lift with the caster (wheel) brakes engaged. See the 11th bullet point on page 10 of the Users Manual.
