Our day started @ approximately 9:00AM. Maureen is in good form. She is alert and engaged. Maureen's diaper was medium wet. Alla gave Maureen a complete bed bath.
Breakfast service started @ 9:50AM. Maureen was tilting to the right upon placement in the geri chair. We inserted a green wedge pillow into the geri chair to adjust her posture. Alla administered the thyroid pill just before she started serving Maureen breakfast.
The redness underneath both sides of Maureen's nose is almost gone. Alla applied Neosporin underneath both sides of Maureen's nose.
Alla prepared scrambled eggs and sausage with melted cheese for breakfast.
Maureen will consume 1/2 a glass of prune juice this morning.
Maureen coughed 4-5 times during breakfast—on two occasions it was a combination cough/sneeze.
Alla administered the blood pressure pill and baby aspirin @ 10:53AM.
11:00AM - Alla checked Maureen's blood pressure: 118/78.
11:20AM - Maureen began an extended period of holding water/saliva in her mouth, It lasted for 10-15 minutes. At one point, she very briefly nodded off with the water still in her mouth.
12:00PM - Alla checked Maureen's pull up. It was wet. We decided to take Maureen to the bedroom to be cleaned and changed. There were no red marks.
12:15PM - We placed Maureen in the lift recliner in the front room.
1:05PM - Lunch - Alla prepared a tuna salad sandwich on toasted whole wheat and some Mexican rice. Maureen had lunch in the lift recliner in the front room.
1:53PM - Alla checked the diaper. It was wet. Since more than a day passed since Maureen last moved her bowels, we took her to the bathroom. Her diaper was wet and had a fecal mark on it. At approximately the 11 minute mark, she did not urinate or move her bowels. We decided to get Maureen up. As we were, she had a medium/large formed bowel movement that Alla was able to catch in her hands. We placed Maureen back on the commode for an additional 5 minutes. There was no more activity. Alla cleaned her thoroughly. Maureen headed back to the lift recliner in advance of Sr. Roberta's arrival.
3:05PM - Maureen has been gradually deteriorating since about 10AM. She is disengaged, moaning softly on a somewhat consistent basis, brow is furrowed, is somewhat fidgety and her temperature is 99.6.
About 10 minutes ago, while Alla was brushing her teeth, Maureen began to bleed somewhat significantly from the mouth. We gave her some water to wash her mouth out. Once she spit it out, I used several swabs to see if I could locate the source of the blood. I was not successful. The area around the new tooth was obviously a point of focus. Nothing. The bleeding has stopped.
