September 9 daytime update

bjtm65
  • 6:45AM - Maureen is awake. She coughs occasionally. Tom is sitting by Maureen's side in the bedroom.

  • 7:43AM - Maureen remains awake. Tom continues to sit by her side. He gives Maureen sips of water using a pink swab every so often.

  • Maureen began her day @ 8:30AM. She is slightly sleepy but alert and engaged. Congestion is typical for first thing in the morning. She coughed heavily 3 times in the prior to 8:30AM. The diaper is dry. Click/tap here to view a detailed overview of the process Tom and I use to get Maureen ready for the day.

  • 9:06AM - Duoneb treatment delivered via the nebulizer. Click here for an overview of Duoneb.

  • General observation @ 9:13AM> Maureen is somewhat lethargic. She is leaning forward more than normal in the geri chair.

  • Breakfast service began @ 9:18AM. Posture in the geri chair is very good. Tom mashed the banana with a fork. Click/tap here for detailed overview of the entire breakfast service process Tom and I use each day.

  • Daily MiraLAX dosage: None. Due to the loose bowel movements Maureen has had during the last few days, we will also skip the prune juice today.

  • 9:50AM - We tilted the geri chair back one notch for Maureen's comfort and to relieve stress off of her back.

  • 10:30AM - Weekend caregiver candidate Nina Santos arrived for her home visit/interview.

  • 11:15AM - Maureen woke up after a 40 minute nap in the geri chair. She was a bit startled, her mouth was twitching a bit and was unresponsive to verbal cues. Tom and Carolyn talked with Maureen until she gradually regained her faculties.

  • 11:50AM - Maureen began expressing herself verbally. Things are more or leas back to normal. This was not what we would characterize as a seizure event.

  • 11:55AM - We headed to the bedroom in advance of Rest Break #1. The diaper was light wet. After completing a clean & change, Tom and I set Maureen up on her left side.

  • 12:08PM - Rest Break #1 begins.

  • General observations @ 12:26PM> Breakfast went well. Maureen chewed and swallowed without too much difficulty. There were five coughs. In general, at the halfway mark of the day, the volume of heavy/red face coughs are less than the prior two days.

  • 1:21PM - Rest Break #1 ends. Diaper was light wet. Tom and I performed a clean & change. Upon completion, we headed to the kitchen for lunch.

  • 1:36PM - Lunch | Tom prepared a serving of tuna salad and a serving of potato salad. Maureen will also consume one 12-ounce bottle of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water during the lunch service.

  • General observations @ 1:56PM> Lunch went very well. Energy was very good. Her eyes were wide open. Only downside from a posture standpoint was that she was leaning forward a bit more than normal. Maureen chewed and swallowed well. She did not cough once during lunch. Did well with the food and liquid.

  • 2:06PM - Afternoon oral care

  • 2:18PM - Tom and I tilted the geri chair back one level for Maureen's general comfort and also to reduce the pressure on her sacrum.

  • 3:05PM - Duoneb treatment delivered via the nebulizer. Click here for an overview of Duoneb.

  • 3:25PM - We checked the diaper. As best as we could tell, it was dry. Tom, Carolyn and I transported Maureen to the front room for the remainder of the afternoon.
