September 2 daytime update

  • 7:20AM - Maureen is sleeping soundly.

  • 8:15AM - No change. Tom is sitting by Maureen's side.

  • 9:03AM - Still sleeping

  • 10:15AM - No change. Tom remains by Maureen's side.

  • 11:35AM - Maureen is sound asleep. Tom, Carolyn and I are going to have a discussion with JourneyCare sometime today about reducing the Keppra dosage. The new medication is causing her to sleep way too much.

  • 11:55AM - Tom and I decided to clean & change Maureen. Before doing so, we checked the diaper. It was dry. Maureen did not stir at all despite the fact that Tom and I removed the blanket and moved her legs to check the diaper.

  • 12:20PM - Maureen's JourneyCare doctor just authorized a reduction of the daily Keppra dosage to 5ml. We will administer two 2.5ml doses on a daily basis from this point forward. For the rest of today, Sept. 2. we will only give Maureen 2.5ml tonight at bedtime.

  • 12:40PM - Tom and I began the process of getting Maureen out of bed. Our first order of business was to check the diaper. It is still dry. We decided to put on a a fresh one. Application of the 3M Barrier Film and Barrier Cream was a part of the process. We also cleaned the upper areas of Maureen's body with warmed wipes from the purple packet.

  • 1:21PM - Lunch | Mostaccioli and piece of sausage. Maureen will consume one 12-ounce bottle of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water during lunch. Maureen's posture in the geri chair is about average. She is tilting a bit forward and to the left. Her eyes are wide open. Engagement and communication are limited.

  • We were able to catch up on all of the standard morning medications during the lunch service. Tom elected not to give Maureen Flonase today.

  • 2:33PM - Afternoon oral care

  • 3:05PM - Tom and I took Maureen to the bedroom for a clean & change. The diaper was light wert. Upon completion, we headed to the front room for the remainder of the afternoon.

  • General observations @ 3:43PM> Today was definitely a challenge. We did not get Maureen out of bed until 12:40PM. She did not have much energy and lacked focus all day. Engagement and communication were infrequent. Posture is the geri chair was less than average. Maureen was tilting to the left and forward more heavily than normal. The positioning of her head was down. Tom and Joanna will give Maureen 2.5ml of Keppra tonight in addition to all of her other bedtime medications.
