October 14 daytime update

  • 6:35AM - Maureen is awake. She is rather chatty. Diaper was dry.

  • 7:55AM - Maureen fell back asleep.

  • Maureen's day officially began @ 8:50AM. Maureen is in good form. Her diaper was wet. Maya thoroughly cleaned Maureen with 3M Cavilon No Rinse Cleansing Spray and applied 3M Cavilon Barrier Cream to all appropriate areas. Lastly, Maya applied a new layer of 3M Cavilon No Sting Barrier Film to the pressure ulcer area.

  • We discovered a small amount of dried blood around the tooth extraction area. As Maya wiped the dried blood away with a napkin, she also wiped a bit of fresh blood.

  • Pressure ulcer area update> Upon examination, the entire area looks to be close to being completely healed. Unless you look very closely, it is to hard distinguish where the area was located. The skin has returned to a nice pinkish color. See the attached images.



  • Breakfast service began @ 9:20AM. Maya started out by putting both the upper and lower dental fittings in Maureen's mouth. Before feeding began, Maya administered the thyroid medication. Maureen's position in the geri chair is good.

  • She coughed approximately 4-5 times during breakfast—this is somewhat more than normal. Maureen also sneezed a few times.

  • Daily MIRAlax dosage: None

  • 9:33AM - Maya administered the blood pressure medication.

  • General Observation @ 9:34AM> Maureen has a fairly substantial amount of nasal congestion this morning.

  • 9:50AM - Moring oral care routine commences

  • 10:00AM - Maya cleaned Maureen's eyelashes with Johnson's Baby Shampoo and warm water. She also put drops in both of her eyes.

  • 10:50 - We took Maureen to the bedroom for the first of two one-hour rest periods to relive the pressure off of her sacrum. She laid on her right side for one hour.

  • 12:05PM - Begin the process of preparing for lunch. Maureen's pull up was wet. Maya thoroughly cleaned her. We headed to the kitchen for lunch.

  • 12:30PM - Lunch | Serving of tuna salad (no bread), homemade butternut squash soup and a small serving of brussel sprouts. Maureen will also drink a 12 oz. bottle of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water.

  • 2:15PM - Julie Karr RN of JourneyCare came to the house to check on Maureen. She commented very favorably on the progress we have made in treating the pressure ulcer.

  • 2:30PM - We set Maureen on her left side for one hour to relieve the pressure on her back.

  • 3:30PM - It was time to get Maureen up for the remainder of the day. Her pull up was wet. Maya thoroughly cleaned her, put on a new pull up and got dressed. We headed to the front room to the lift recliner.

  • 3:50PM - Fruit snack time.

-9:30am Maureen is awake, Tom gave her a few swabs of water. We sat Maureen in a upright position and gave her 75mcg of Levothyroxine w/applesauce. We gave Maureen 6oz. of water w/Thick-It. -Morning C
