Maureen is now urinating and moving her bowels in her diaper/pull-up regularly. At this point, she definitely meets the clinical definition of incontinence.
Constant exposure to urine and feces can cause incontinence dermatitis—an inflammation of the skin associated with exposure to urine or stool. In order to avoid incontinence dermatitis, we purchased 3M Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream.
The following bullet points provide an overview of how we will use this product:
The cream will be applied once per day first thing morning by the team on point when Maureen wakes up.
Apply the cream to all areas constantly exposed to urine and/or feces. This includes the area directly around the vagina and rectum. This also includes Maureen's upper inner thighs.
3M Cavilon Durable Barrier Cream is not designed to treat skin wounds such as the "bug bites" we recently encountered on Maureen's posterior.
