Friday December 17, 2021 Dayshift Update

• 7:00am Maureen is awake. She is lightly chatting to herself.

• 8:00am Our morning begins with a bed bath focusing on the folds of Maureen’s skin. Applied Tolcylen to both right and left big toe and allowed to air dry for at least 10 minutes. Her diaper is slightly wet - we cleaned up using the 3M cleanser spray, applied the no sting barrier film on the former pressure sore area, applied Cavilon barrier cream to all appropriate areas, and put on a new diaper. We transferred Maureen to the Geri chair using the Hoyer lift.

  • During the morning routine, I noticed Maureen’s eyes darting left and right for approximately 10 seconds. She was conversational, saying hello and responding to our greetings. Maya stated she also noticed this yesterday morning.

  • Maureen’s navel continues to heal, it is only slightly pink. We cleaned the area with water and Cetaphil and applied a layer of Hydrocortisone to the area.

• 8:36am We started with a couple sips of water followed by a spoonful of honey.

• 8:42am Administered thyroid medication with applesauce.

• 8:46am Maureen will eat a bowl of oatmeal with a banana complemented with 4 oz of prune juice and a cup of water.

  • Maureen coughed a total of 3 times during breakfast.

• 9:10am Administered Lisinopril with applesauce.

• 9:14am Oral care routine.

• 9:20am Eye wash with baby shampoo and eye drops.

• 9:30am Facial routine.

• 9:50am We headed to the front room. Maureen is relaxing in her recliner watching tv.

• 10:40am Fruit smoothie time.

• 11:15am We headed to the bedroom for a change. Maureen had a formed, medium bowel movement during the change. We cleaned up and put on a new diaper. Maureen is turned to her right side with two green wedge pillows behind her and the white block pillow placed in between her legs. Maureen will rest in bed for an hour starting at 11:41am.

• 12:41pm Maureen’s first rest is over. Her diaper is wet - cleaned up, applied Cavilon barrier cream, and put on a new diaper.

  • During the process of getting ready, Maureen’s eyes again darted from left to right in a fast motion for approximately 20 seconds. Maya and I find this happens more when she is being turned from side to side.

• 1:03pm Lunchtime. Maureen will eat homemade chicken and rice soup, half of a tuna sandwich, a serving of green beans, and a bottle of coconut water. Maureen also enjoyed a helping of rice pudding for dessert.

  • Maureen coughed twice during her meal.

• 1:38pm Oral care.

• 1:50pm Maya is helping Maureen through some light upper body exercises.

• 2:20pm We headed to the bedroom for a change. Maureen’s diaper is wet - we cleaned up and put on a new diaper. Maureen is lying on her left side with two green wedge pillows placed behind her and the white block pillow placed in between her legs. Maureen will rest for an hour starting at 2:32pm.

• 2:25pm We began to rouse Maureen from her rest. Her diaper is slightly wet and she had a very small, formed bowel movement. We cleaned up, applied Cavilon barrier cream, and put on a new diaper. We headed to the front room after.

• 3:40pm Fruit snack.
