We started administering the new seizure medication on Saturday morning. Its name is the VIMPAT, or LACOSAMIDE, given at 5ml in the mornings only until Thursday, at which time we are to give 5ml in the evening also. As of Thursday, we will be off of OXCARBAZEPINE, I will remove it from the medicine cabinet.

I also did not give Maureen her morning dose of OLANZAPINE, this weekend. She hasn’t shown any signs of anxiety or agitation in quite a while and I believe it causes unneeded drowsiness.

My observations of the weekend are these, and Paula can leave some comments as well ...

*. Maureen was very talkative and engaging, a little more so, on Sunday.

*. I would definitely say she was sitting much more upright throughout the day, no slouching or leaning during meals. Some leaning in the recliner.

*. Much more alert, overall.

I would suggest keeping off the morning dose, all of this week to see if things improve even more.
