Updated: Feb 4, 2022

  • 6:30AM - Maureen is awake. The diaper is dry. She sounds dry and congested.

  • Maya and I gave Maureen extremely small servings of water using a pink swab while she remained in bed from 6:30AM to 8:05AM when our day started. Maureen absolutely loves the chance to wet her whistle.

  • Maureen began her day @ 8:05AM. She is in good form. Her energy and engagement are normal. Maya began by applying Tolcylen to both big toenails. Diaper is medium wet. We performed a clean & change using all three 3M Cavilon products where appropriate. Wednesday is bed bath day. Maya cleaned Maureen using Aloe Vesta Cleansing Foam. We did not see any rash/redness on Maureen.

  • Breakfast service commenced @ 9:00AM. Posture in geri chair is good. Maureen is tilting somewhat to the left and slightly forward. Maya started out by administering the thyroid medication.

  • Maureen will consume approximately 4 ounces of prune juice this morning.

  • Daily MiaLAX dosage: None

  • 9:25AM - Maya gave Maureen a dose of the generic version of Robitussin cough medicine. This is the first bottle JourneyCare sent over. It is in a generic brown bottle.

  • 9:30AM - Maya administered a dose of Arm & Hammer Simply Saline Nasal Mist.

  • 9:35AM - Morning oral care routine

  • 9:41AM - Low moan/groan has begun. Maureen's energy is materially dissipating. Her eyes are now half closed. It is not constant but is happening fairly regularly.

  • 9:50AM - Eyelash cleaning and eye drops

  • 10:05AM - Morning facial and arm treatment

  • 10:35AM - Organic fruit smoothie

  • 10:55AM - We transported Maureen to the bedroom to prepare for Rest Break #1. Diaper was medium wet. After cleaning and changing Maureen, Maya and I positioned her on her right side.

  • 11:11AM - Rest Break #1 begins.

  • 12:11PM - Rest Break #1 ends. Diaper is medium wet. After performing a clean & change, Maya and I shampooed Maureen's hair. We proceeded to the kitchen immediately after where Maya style and dried Maureen's hair.

  • 12:47PM - Lunch | Maya prepared a serving of shrimp salad, 1/2 a bowl of homemade organic split pea soup with chicken and a serving of green beans. Maureen as usual will consume 12 ounces of the nectar of young Tai coconuts: Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water. For dessert, Maureen will enjoy one of her all-time favorites: a serving of rice pudding with cinnamon.

  • 1:27PM - Maya gave Maureen a dose of the generic version of Robitussin cough medicine. This is the first bottle JourneyCare sent over. It is in a generic brown bottle.

  • 1:30PM - Maya administered a dose of Arm & Hammer Simply Saline Nasal Mist

  • 1:53PM - Afternoon oral care.

  • 2:15PM - We took Maureen to the bedroom for a clean and change. Her diaper was medium wet. While cleaning Maureen, noted a very small circular red mark on the left lower buttock/upper thigh. Its surface is slightly rough. Maya and I do not feel it is a pressure ulcer. After cleaning and changing Maureen, we returned to the kitchen in advance of Maureen's podiatrist Dr. Parise.

  • 2:25PM - Dr. Parise arrived. He is Maureen's podiatrist. He cut Maureen's toenails and rubbed a layer of lotion on her feet. Overall, he was pleased with the progress on the two big toenails. Dr. Parise also dropped off another tube of Tolcylen. He said we will assess the overall progress of this product after we go through the second tube. In his view, It may very well make sense to discontinue the product at that time. Since Maureen continues to utter the low moan/groan, I asked Dr. Parise if there was even a remote chance that Maureen's toenails might cause pain great enough to make her moan/groan. He said it was highly unlikely based on his many years experience.

  • 3:15PM - Afternoon fruit snack

  • General observation on the afternoon> Maureen continued to utter the low moan/groan intermittently all afternoon.

  • Daytime recap> Today was definitely better than yesterday in every significant way. Maureen was more engaged and communicative. She moaned/groaned less. Appetite was good. Unfortunately, Maureen did cough many times. Some of her coughs lead us to believe the congestion is starting to loosen up. According to the new thermometer in her bedroom, the humidity was 40% in the room all day. This will definitely help her sleep more comfortably.
