February 18 daytime update

• 6:30AM - Maureen is awake. From now until the time Maureen gets out of bed as long as she is fully awake, we will give her small sips of water using a pink mouth swab.

• 6:40AM - Maya checked the diaper. It is now wet.

• Maureen began her day @ 8:06AM. She is in good spirits. First oder of business was for Maya to apply Tolcylen to her big toes. Diaper was medium wet. We performed a standard clean & change using all three 3M Cavilon products where appropriate. Lastly, Maya cleaned all the areas of focus on Maureen's upper body with Aloe Vesta Cleansing Foam and warmed wipes from the purple packet. As has been the case for a number of weeks now, we noted absolutely no redness.

• Breakfast service began @ 8:44AM. Maya began with a teaspoon of Manuka Honey followed immediately by the administration of the thyroid medication with a small bit of applesauce. Maureen consume a fair amount of her meal with her eyes partially open.

• Maureen will consume approximately 4 ounces of prune juice this morning.

• Daily MiraLAX dosage: None

• General observation @ 8:53AM> Maureen is lacking energy again this morning. She is very lethargic. Engagement is low. Her eyes are partially closed. She is more congested today. Coughing is already more prevalent.

• 8:55AM - The low moan/groan starts.

• 9:20AM - Maureen began sleeping for approximately 20 minutes.

• 9:50AM - Maureen went through two very extended coughing periods after I gave her a few small sips of water. They were two of the longest coughs I have ever witnessed. Her face also got red.

• 9:58AM - Maya administered the blood pressure medication.

• 10:10AM - Morning oral care

• General observation @ 10:15AM> Maureen has regained a bit of her energy. Her eyes are now a bit more open. She is slightly more engaged.

• 10:53AM - We headed to the bedroom to prepare for Rest Break #1. The diaper was medium wet. Maureen has a small soft bowel movement. After completing a clean & change, Maya and I placed Maureen on her right side.

• 11:10AM - Rest Break #1 begins.

• 12:36PM - Rest Break #1 concludes. Diaper was medium wet. We performed and clean & change and headed to the kitchen for lunch.

• 12:50PM - Lunch | Maya made 1/2 an organic egg salad sandwich on toasted whole wheat, 1/2 a bowl of organic lentil soup and a medley of sliced tomatoes and green beans. Maureen will consume one 12-ounce bottle of Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water. There is just enough rice pudding left for dessert.

• General observation @ 1:00PM> Maureen's energy during lunch is better than this morning but still less than what we are used to seeing. She is still somewhat lethargic and chewing very deliberately. Her eyes are almost completely wide open. Engagement and communicatively are also less than normal.

• 1:45PM - Maureen has been uttering the low moan/groan more loudly and consistently since 1:00PM.

• 1:50PM - Afternoon oral care

• 2:10PM - We took Maureen to the bedroom to prepare for Sr. Roberta's visit. The diaper was light wet. Maureen had a very small soft bowel movement. Upon completion of a clean & change, we headed to the front room.

• 2:40PM - Theraputic massage session with Sr. Roberta.

• 3:02PM - Afternoon fruit snack

• 3:10PM - THAT'S NEW> Sr. Roberta and Maya observed Maureen's right leg visibly twitching up and down while Maureen was sitting in the lift recliner.

• Daytime recap> Our rating for the day is decent. Maureen had low energy throughout most of the day. Everything just seemed in slow motion. She did not engage or interact with us at a normal level. Maureen nodded off on several occasions while eating breakfast—a rare occasion for this meal. Coughing was materially worse than normal. The low moan/groan popped up intermittently throughout the day. There were two soft bowel movements - one very small and one small.
